
Welcome! The following is a brief explanation of what we
will be trying to accomplish during the next eight weeks. Please be aware that
this class operates on a self paced basis. Other than direct instruction time,
you will be responsible for working to meet your project goals independently.
Procrastination is your worst enemy. Try to accomplish your goals early, as you
will then have time to work on extra credit.

Keyboarding—Mavis Beacon will
attempt to teach you proper keyboard techniques. This part of the course is self
directed and is worth 10 points towards your total grade (100).
Students start with 6 of 10 points and
earn additional points by achieving and reporting AWPM goals or lose points by
not
following
proper

Microsoft Office 2000 (Excel)-- This spreadsheet program will be explored and utilized in the creation of a custom workbook.
Introduction to HTML—The components of Hyper Text Markup Language will be explored via the Internet and class discussions.
Web Page Development— A variety of classroom activities will be given which will lead you through the process of creating web pages. The finished web site will be assessed on your proficiency in ten areas.
Digital Art-- Fridays become special in computer lab as we try out various techniques in a digital art application. Many of the "breakout sessions" will later be integrated into our projects.
Other topics may be included if time allows. Grading will then be adjusted accordingly.
