Dear Central Berkshire Families,

Last night’s weekly COVID incident report from the MA Department of Health showed Dalton’s COVID incidence rating as yellow. This means that there have been between 15 and 25 cases within a population that is less than 10,000 in Dalton. This metric was an agreed upon safety parameter as part of our plan for in-person learning, to ensure a safe environment for all. Given that we are currently outside of this parameter (which as a collective group was identified as safe), we will be moving to fully remote learning in all schools as of Monday, November 23, 2020.

This is an extremely difficult decision for us to make because the benefits of in-person learning are innumerable! Furthermore, it is our intention to return to hybrid instruction as soon as we are no longer considered vulnerable due to the metrics. This COVID-19 Weekly Public Health Report is released on Thursdays and can be found by clicking on this link. While we realize this is not ideal, our goal is to return to in-person learning in as safe a manner as possible. All Principals will be communicating with families directly following this message.

Thank you.

Leslie Blake-Davis
Superintendent
