DESE Targeted Program Review

The Targeted Program Review completed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has been released to the public and added to the district website. You can reach the report by clicking on the hyperlink above. The Central Berkshire Regional School District was randomly selected for this review. The review took place on site from October 24-26, 2017. The review consisted of a review of documents, extensive data analysis, interviews and classroom observations. 

The report is also available on the DESE website where you will find all other reports for both Comprehensive Program Reviews which are typically done for Level 3 and 4 districts and Targeted Program Reviews done for Level 2 districts. Targeted Program Reviews look at three areas. For our district the three areas reviewed were: Curriculum and Instruction, Assessment and Student Support. 

The entire report is lengthy and includes an extensive amount of data. There are areas we are incredibly proud of that include the following commendation: leaders have a keen focus on equity and inclusion and areas we are motivated to work on including increasing equity in rigor and quality of instruction district wide, using this report to guide our work. It is important to note that while the report has just been publicly released we did receive feedback immediately following the visit that we were able to use to make progress in the time that has elapsed towards the areas of need. 

One of the areas you will see the Targeted Review supports is the work the district is doing on Inclusive Practices. Inclusive Practices consists of Universally Designed Learning, Positive Behavioral Instructional Supports and Social Emotional Learning. If you would like to learn more about this, please consider joining Director of Teaching and Learning Leslie Blake Davis for the Family Book Group she will be facilitating this spring. The specific information about the group will be shared with families in the weekly communication sent by principals.
